Local Priorities

Ilkley Ward Area

  1. Tackling anti-social behaviour around Riverside Gardens and surrounding areas during periods of hot weather through proactive patrols and the use of ASB sanctions and legislation to target repeat offenders.

  2. Reducing thefts from local shops and supermarkets through increased foot patrols, proactive suspect enquiries and partnership work with Ilkley BID and local businesses.

Issued: 22 Apr 2026

Status Update

  1. Hotspot areas patrolled during periods of hot weather. Partnership meetings ongoing with Bradford Council to plan for the busier summer months and upcoming community events.

  2. Ilkley centre officer PC Smallshaw now working full time on foot in the town centre, with a priority of tackling shop thefts. More arrests have been made in relation to shoplifting, the majority of the offenders have travelled to the area to commit the thefts.

Actioned: 22 Apr 2026

Keighley West Ward Area

  1. Tackling anti-social driving and speeding across the ward area, particularly through Laycock village and Braithwaite Road, through traffic enforcement in conjunction with Op Shipdon.

  2. Tackling anti-social use of motorbikes and electric bikes around the Bracken Bank and Braithwaite estates and surrounding areas.

  3. Reducing anti-social behaviour in Guard House and Braithwaite, particularly around the Rainbow Centre, via diversion work with first-time offenders and the use of pro-active ASB sanctions and legislation to target repeat offenders.

Issued: 22 Apr 2026

Status Update

  1. PCSOs have conducted regular community speed watches, including the speeding hotspots on West Lane, Fell Lane and Laycock Lane/Braithwaite Road. Warning letters sent to drivers recorded as driving over the speed limit. Police officers conduct regular speeding enforcement as part of our Keighley speeding operation Op Shipdon, resulting in numerous drivers reported for traffic offences and vehicles seized.

  2. Ongoing joint operations with the Operation Steerside off-road bikes team have resulted in several nuisance bikes being seized and owners given formal warnings over recent weeks. Patrols will be increasing as we move towards the summer months.

  3. Thirteen ASB warning letters and one Acceptable Behaviour Contract served to ASB perpetrators over recent weeks. Our Early Help and Youth Justice teams are working with several juveniles and their families to deter them from further offending.
